TACLOBAN CITY -- The Department of Labor and Employment - North Leyte Field Office (DOLE-NLFO) has awarded livelihood assistance to some 25 low-wage earners and seasonal workers from Tacloban City on August 3.
Engr. Emmanuel Y. de la Cruz, head of DOLE-NLFO, led the simple turnover of pedicabs worth P501,600 to the beneficiaries at the DOLE-Regional Office 8 compound.
“DOLE is giving these pedicabs so that you will have additional income. We hope that with your hardwork and dedication, these will go well with you and be of great help for your families,” said Engr. de la Cruz.
Jesus R. Alcaraz, 49 years old, was thankful to DOLE and excited that he can now drive his own pedicab and earn more for his family.
“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE. Malaking tulong po ito sa akin lalo na sa pamilya ko, para matugunan ko ang aming pangangailangan lalo na sa pagkain,” said Alcaraz.
The said livelihood project is under the 1st Batch of Pedicab Project implemented by NLFO under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) this 2022.
Also present during the turnover was Senior Labor and Employment Officer Shirley Ann B. Nebrija, DOLE-NLFO’s focal for Livelihood. (DOLE-8)
