DOST Biliran, BIPSU conduct GAD awareness, learn management training

NAVAL, Biliran -- Part of the Department of Science and Technology's commitment to streamline gender and development (GAD) in the system is to provide GAD orientation to its SETUP beneficiaries.

The activity was conducted on August 16 in partnership with GAD office of the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU).

On top of the said GAD activity, was a lecture on Lean Management System which is very useful for the SETUP beneficiaries who are mostly micro entrepreneurs engaged in manufacturing.

The resource person for the Lean Management System is no other than the Senior Lean Transformation Coach from Geoventures Management Consultancy Firm, Jerome J. Martinez. GMCF is stationed in Cebu City and is serving small to large companies around the country promoting the Lean Management System.

On the other hand, Aivan Lloyd Calonia, DOST-8 GAD focal person provided the participants deeper understanding of the need for MSMEs to adopt Gender and Development Program within their firms.

A total of 25 firms, all assisted by DOST's SETUP Program from around the province of Biliran were able to gain knowledge on the two important topics discussed during the training.

The activity was jointly sponsored by the DOST-Biliran and BiPSU through their GAD office.

Dr. Marianne Dagayloan, director of BiPSU-GDO welcomed the participants and gave her opening message at the start of the activity.

The DOST-Biliran Team who made the preparations and facilitated the smooth conduct of the activity was composed of Gracevillalyn R. Saldo, SETUP coordinator, Juliet Aguirre, training coordinator, and the rest of the DOST Biliran staff. (MMP/DOST-Biliran PSTC)
