QUEZON CITY -- In strengthening the efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to attain inclusive and sustainable peace, a courtesy meeting with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), and the Department was held on 22 August 2022 at the DSWD Secretary’s Office.
The meeting discussed the on-going partnership and expression of commitment to continue working together on the implementation of the DSWD programs in support of the government’s peace initiatives.
DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo was accompanied by DSWD Undersecretaries Alan A. Tanjusay, and Atty. Adonis P. Sulit during the meeting while OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. was joined by OPAPRU Undersecretary David B. Diciano, and OPAPRU Assistant Secretary Atty. Wilben M. Mayor.
In partnership with the OPAPRU, the Department implements the following programs in support of the government’s peace tables - Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Transformation Program, Normalization Program for the Decommissioned Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Combatants, programs for the KAPATIRAN, and PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) for the communities in conflict-affected areas.
The Department aims to achieve significant progress in supporting the peace effort towards armed groups and in the delivery of public services in conflict-affected and vulnerable areas by the year 2022, through effective delivery of services to support the implementation of other peace programs.
