CSC encourages gov’t workers to avail of special treats

QUEZON CITY -- For the 122nd anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) partnered once again with private organizations/establishments to offer special treats to government workers.

According to CSC Chairperson Karlo A. B. Nograles, “The 1.8 million civil servants are our true public service heroes and this is one way of making them feel our appreciation for a job well done and validate their contributions as we collectively recover from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.”

The SM Store will be holding the Civil Service Day Sale from 23-25 September, offering P300 off for a minimum of PHP3,000 single-receipt purchase upon presentation of SMAC + government employee ID. Discount is valid for both in-store and personal shopper transactions.

Meanwhile, Star City’s treat is extended to maximum of three family members of government employees. For the whole month of September, they can avail of the Star Pass for a discounted price of PHP400 instead of PHP549. The Star Pass is redeemable on the date of purchase only. For a day of pampering, Dermcare offers 50% discount on diamond power peel; 30% discount on other regular priced services; and 10% discount on product sets. Government workers are required to present their government agency ID or UMID card, and in the case of SM, the SM Advantage Card, to avail of the discounts. Job Order and Contract of Service workers may also avail of the discounts as long as they are able to present their official government agency ID card.

The annual celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary commemorates the signing of Public Law No. 5 o An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands) on 19 September 1900. The celebration is also pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997 signed by the late President Fidel Valdez Ramos declaring the month of September as the Civil Service Month.
