DPWH Biliran initiates COVID-19 booster in the workplace

NAVAL, Biliran -- Employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways - Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) availed the COVID-19 booster shots held at DPWH-BDEO multipurpose hall on August 19.

The DPWH-BDEO, headed by District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones and Assistant District Engineer Alfredo L. Bollido, initiated the COVID-19 booster shot in the workplace to encourage more employees to get vaccinated.

More than 60 employees participated in the booster shot for Pfizer vaccine conducted by the medical team from the Municipal Health Unit of Naval.

Malou A. Bernadas, job order employee of BDEO said she was grateful to the office for initiating a COVID-19 vaccination in the workplace because she no longer needed to travel and wait for long lines in their Health Unit to be vaccinated.

“Convenient kaayo ni para sa amo-a kay di nami kailangan mugawas, unya mupila ug taas, labina kay daghan me ug trabahuon, kahuman namo ug pabakuna makabalik rapud me dayon sa among trabahoon,” said Bernadas. (This is very convenient for us because we no longer need to go out of the office and wait for long lines especially that we have many office works. After vaccination, we can just go back to our work.)

“As usa ka inahan, dili ra ako maka-benepisyo ani, pati pud akong anak ug mga kauban nako sa balay, ako nga nagtrabaho atleast safeguarded ko by the booster,” she added. (I am not the only one who can benefit. As a mother, I can also protect my child and the members of our household. With the booster vaccine, I can safeguard myself from easily acquiring Covid.)

Bern L. Calomadre, chief  of Administrative Section said that most of its employees have been fully vaccinated for first and second doses. Meanwhile, unvaccinated employees were subject for an antigen test every month with a negative test result.

To date, BDEO has a total of 217 employees which composed of 56 - budgetary, three 3 Co-Terminus to the Incumbent Status (CTI), eight (8) - under Build Build Build (BBB), and 150 - Job Orders.

Aside from being vaccinated, basic health safety protocol was still being followed by BDEO employees to prevent COVID-19.  (MMP/DPWH-BDEO)
