SAN MIGUEL, Surigao del Sur - A member of the Communist Party of the Philippines -New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) Terrorist (CNT) was killed in a clash against the government troops of the 75th Infantry Battalion in a secluded area in Sitio Panukmuan, Barangay Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur morning of August 25, 2022.
Based on the report, three (3) high-powered firearms were recovered in the battle area after the armed encounter , namely, one (1) AK47 Rifle; one (1) M4 Rifle; one (1) Carbine cal. 30; and other war materials.
Prior to the incident, the government troops were alerted by the report from concerned citizens regarding the presence of CNTs in the area.
With the information received, the troops immediately conducted a security operatio and fought against around 10 CNT members believed to be involved in extortion activities in Surigao del Sur.
The slain CNT identified as Adring Acevido aka DIEGO, 49 years old and from Sitio Nalindog, Barangay Bolhoon, San Miguel town of this province. His cadaver was then brought to Duran Funeral Homes in Brgy Poblacion, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur for proper disposition.
75IB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Jelson D. Buyuccan, in his message, confirmed the incident. He also emphasized that the government gave them a chance to change, live normally and avail of the government programs intended for them.
“An unfortunate event resulted in the death of another CTG member. As much as possible, we would like them to surrender so that they will have a chance to change their lives with their loved ones by returning to the folds of law and avail of the Enhanced- Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Lt. Col. Buyuccan said.
The official also called on the remaining CTG members to surrender. “To the remaining CTG members in Surigao del Sur, heed our call, surrender peacefully, and avail of the E-CLIP of the government.
