TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – Some 38,217 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapuhay Para Sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) received their salaries for their 10 days of work in the various municplaities in Surigao del Sur from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - Surigao del Sur.
In a press statement, DOLE revealed that the sum of P86,020,000.00 was released from April to August of the current year. The beneficiaries are all residents from the different municipalities within the province.
Each beneficiary received P3,500.00 for 10 days of work, following the highest prevailing wage of P350.00 in Surigao del Sur.
One of the TUPAD beneficiaries Princess Joy Ravala, 19 years old, a college student said, that the salary she earned will help defray expenses for her school projects and other related fees.
DOLE’s TUPAD program is a stop-gap measure that aims to alleviate the lives of the displaced, poor, and marginalized workers through the provision of emergency employment.
