MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is committed to continue the organization’s assistance to Cabuyao City Jail’s persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
On September 21, PRC deployed a water tanker to Cabuyao City Jail to provide clean and safe drinking water to PDLs affected by diarrhea due to contaminated water. The PRC water tanker, complete with accessories for water distribution, brought 10,000 liters of clean and safe drinking water, serving 657 PDLs.
PRC also sent 1,000 sachets of Oral Rehydration Solution (Oresol), 500 tablets of Metronidazole antibiotics, IV fluids and IV sets with needles, and two boxes of underpads for the PDLs in Cabuyao City Jail.
Today, PH Red Cross, with support from Unilever, will give away hygiene items for 400 visitorless PDLs in Cabuyao City Jail. PH Red Cross will also provide 16 disinfection kits (2 for each of the 8 dorms) and 40 rigid 20-liter jerry cans for storing drinking water (5 for each of the 8 dorms). The hygiene kits contain bath soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, and detergent powder. (Philippine Red Cross)
