Statistical community in EV gears up for 33rd NSM in October

TACLOBAN CITY -- To mark the 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM), the statistical community in the region gears up for onsite event this coming October 2022.  After two (2) years of virtual celebrations, there will be series of regionwide inter-agency activities that are inclusive, festive, statistically creative, safe and fun for all stakeholders.

This year, NSM bears the theme, "Boosting the Country's Recovery with lnformed Decisions, Better Policies," which emphasizes the critical role of statistics in crafting the most appropriate decisions and policies that are needed to boost efforts for recovery. 

To kick-off this event, the Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA-RSSO 8) will lead an Information Caravan around Tacloban City on 30 September 2022 enjoining the public, including all departments, bureaus, offices, and instrumentalities of the national government, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Government Units (LGUs), and the private sector to participate in and support the month-long activities. 

The 33rd NSM Opening Ceremony will immediately follow at Robinson’s North Tacloban after the caravan.   The program will highlight the Keynote Address on NSM Theme, Eastern Visayas in Figures, PhilSys Birth Registration Project (PBRAP) and Launching of the Data Walk and Jam and Data Boulevard. 

Meanwhile, all Provincial Statistical Offices of PSA will be holding contests, fora and information dissemination campaigns for the whole month of October. 

At the regional level, among the calendared events include FB Stats Go! (every Wednesday and Friday of October), Stats Zumbayaw (08 October), Stats-On-Bike (08 October), Learning Statistics: The Fun Way (11-12 October), Inter-High School Statistics Quiz Show (14 October), Virtual Training on Data Visualization Using ggplot (Tentative: 19 October), NSM Tree Planting (TBA), Stats on Web (Judging: 21 October), and 2022 Data Festival.
