TACLOBAN CITY -- Some 50 farmers and visitors joined the Farmers’ Field Day on Hybrid Rice held in Brgy. Talisayan, Javier, Leyte.

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (DA-RFO 8) was represented by Romeo Delmo, the rice program coordinator where he explained that field days are designed to encourage farmers from the barangays and the nearby areas to follow the package of technology showcased in that farmers field, and at the same time  practice on the learnings they have gained in their weekly on-site classes.

Nathaniel Abrio, the farmer cooperator, said he was happy with the various assistance extended to him in this techno demo, not only from the Department of Agriculture regional office, the local Government unit of Javier, Leyte, and the Office of the Municipal Agriculture, but also from the TESDA Regional Offcie, the private company such as Bayer Crop Science, and the barangays.

Randy Dayon of Bayer Cop Science also discussed on the package of technology adopted for this technology demonstration.

The said forum also provided the farmers the chance to air out their concerns on the implementation of various social amelioration assistance since the past two years. (MMP/DA-8)
