Gallery Walk for pregnant women highlights Buntis Congress

BURAUEN, Leyte -- One of the highlights of the 2022 Buntis Congress in Burauen, Leyte was the Gallery Walk for pregnant women.

A Gallery Walk is a discussion technique that gets participants out of their chairs and into a mode of active engagement. The advantage of this method is its flexibility and the variety of benefits for participants (pregnant mothers in this case).

This activity is being conducted either with computers (a "Computer Run"), with pieces of paper on tables, or with posted chart paper and is being scheduled for fifteen minutes.

In the case of Burauen, Leyte, they utilized computers, television sets, charts, posters, flyers, sample medicines and supplements, refrigerator magnets and other collaterals.

The Gallery Walk gave the participants the chance to share thoughts in a more intimate, supportive setting rather than a larger, anonymous one. It also gave a chance to gauge the depth of the pregnant women’s understanding of particular concepts and address misconceptions.

Among the services offered during the activity included family planning, pre natal, diagnostics, nutrition, labor and delivery, post natal, child immunization, garantisadong pambata, PhilHealth, and Pinas Lakas.

Theparticipants were also given flyers and handouts during the said event.

Aside from variety of cognitive skills involving analysis, evaluation, and synthesis, the Gallery Walk has the advantage of promoting cooperation, listening skills, and team building. (MMP/NNC-8)
