NAVAL, Biliran -- The construction of the new municipal building in Caibiran town is now on its finishing touches as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Biliran District Engineering Office inspects the project on September 28.
The said project is a three-clustered contract which involves construction of a three-storey Caibiran Municipal Building with a total floor area of 3,259.75 square meters; the construction of the Multi-Purpose Building (MPB) (Legislative Building), Phase II in Brgy. Palengke in the town of Caibiran and the construction of MPB (Legislative Building) in Brgy. Poblacion in Kawayan town.
This project is funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) with a revised contract amount of P39.16-M implemented by Chu Construction.
The project inspection was led by Engr. Luisito Filemon A. Abad, chief of Construction Section; together with Engr. Supremo Victor D. Sabitsana, chief of Procurement Unit; Engr. Diolito S. Aberion, project engineer of BDEO; local media; and project engineer of the contractor.
According to Engineer Abad, the said project is almost completed.
“As of now, almost completed na ang project, installation nalang ng air conditioning system ang kulang, so by second week of October, tapos na siya,” said Engr. Abad.
The chief of Construction Section explained that the project has its original completion date on January 29, 2022, however, it encountered delays in the implementation due to slight changes in plan as per request from the end-users and other aspects such as an unfavorable weather conditions and some restrictions brought about by Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Engr. Abad, the contractor has already secured a contract time extension and other pertinent documents which warrants the shortcomings.
The completion of the new municipal building will provide a spacious and a convenient workplace for the LGU employees which in return will give hassle-free transactions and a more quality service for the people of Caibiran. (MMP/DPWH-BDEO)
