CATBALOGAN CITY -- The Provincial Government of Samar, through its Provincial Planning and Development Office, and in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government - Samar conducted a Pre-Executive-Legislative Agenda Formulation Workshop on September 15-16, at the Samar State University Convention Center, this city.
In the 2-day workshop, Gov. Sharee Ann Tan, the department heads, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members, along with the representatives from national government agencies, CSOs, and other stakeholders were guided by the DILG in crafting the province's Executive-Legislative Agenda (ELA).
The proposed ELA encapsulates the priority programs of the executive and legislative branches to ensure the coherence between the programs and policies of the government.
"Our consideration is to touch more lives by providing the much needed services," Governor Sharee Ann Tan shared.
Governor Tan added that this ELA will translate into a seamless close coordination, and collaboration between and among stakeholders.
The workshop likewise revisited the Spark Samar Development Agenda, the peace and prosperity campaign of the province. Through which, the necessary changes were incorporated to ensure that the SSDA is keeping up with the demands of time.
On the other hand, former DILG Undersecretary Marivel Sacendoncillo shared that strategic management and futures thinking is important in crafting plans.
"The future is VUCA, volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous," Sacendoncillo said.
She likewise stressed that corrective actions must be undertaken when needed to reach the end goal.
Section 106 of the Local Government Code mandates local government units to formulate and submit their ELA in the first 100 days after the assumption to office of elected officials. (MMP/Samar PIO)
