CATBALOGAN CITY -- The Provincial Government of Samar, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, organized the Provincial-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) - Engagement of Stakeholders and Planning Workshop on September 21-23 in Tacloban City as part of its commitment to reinforce and synchronize PAFES functions.
Through the joint efforts of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the Department of Agriculture Region 8, the Agricultural Training Institute, and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the workshop produced a collaborative plan actualizing the Provincial-led PAFES Mapping of Samar's two cities and 24 municipalities.
PAFES will be established to deliver extension services reaching the grassroots level and improve the partnership between the Department of Agriculture, local government units, the academia, and the private sector.
While the Department of Agriculture co-plans and co-implements priority projects with local government units, provincial LGUs shall be responsible for the reinforcement of agricultural programs and materializing activities concerted by the DA and other stakeholders. (Samar PIO)
