OFW group in Calbayog receives P250K from OWWA's Tulong Puso Program

CALBAYOG CITY -- The Calbayog District OFW Beneficiaries and Farmers Association (CDOBFA) recently received their second tranche of financial assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration - Regional Welfare Office VIII (OWWA-8) amounting to P250,000.

CDOBFA received P100,000 back in April during the first tranche of assistance, and is set to receive P150,000 this November. In total, the organization's financial aid amounts to P500,000.00 for its mushroom farming venture.

Emelie Labendia, CDOBFA president, shared that they are greatly appreciative of what the government has given to them. She likewise promised that they will work hard for their organization to thrive through the said financial assistance.

Meanwhile, Vice-Governor Arnold Tan encouraged the program beneficiaries to value what has been given to them and spend the money wisely. He likewise said that the government, especially the province, will always support and endeavor to champion the welfare of the OFWs.

The Tulong Puso program provides financial grant to eligible OFW organizations, duly registered with the Department of Labor and Employment, the Securities and Exchange Commission, or the Cooperative Development Authority, for the purpose of  jumpstarting, expanding, or restoring their  livelihood project.

Aside from CDOBFA, three other OFW organizations from Pinabacdao, Basey, and Catbalogan have fully received their cash aid. (Samar PIO)
