DOH-MMCHD honors heroism of healthcare sector, partners

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Department of Health - Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) recently held a regional recognition to public and private health sector and its partners at the Manila Hotel.

During its 35th Founding Anniversary with the theme “A Salute to Champions for Health,” partner agencies, medical centers, hospitals, treatment and rehabilitation centers (TRCs), and local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila were awarded due to their service in keeping the people healthy and safe especially in time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DOH-MMCHD said the COVID-19 pandemic overwhelmed the healthcare system and showed how important frontline healthcare workers are as the backbone of an effective healthcare delivery system.

Because of the important things they have done to help people, these modern-day heroes deserve to be recognized and honored, the agency added.

Former Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez and now Secretary of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, in his speech, shared the challenges and milestones that the health sector and the government experienced during the early months of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The official expressed his appreciation and happiness to the continuing service of the health sector and its partner agencies, and their unending support to the government’s vaccination program.

All of you deserve to be in the spotlight... your heroism will never be forgotten,” Sec. Galvez told the awardees.

On the otherhand, a festive performance from the Curves and Movers of DOH-MMCHD was also showcased during the event for entertainment and celebration. (PIA-NCR)
