SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Oct. 10 (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority here is inviting all government agencies, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges, and the private sector at the national and sub-national levels to actively participate in and support the 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in October 2022.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, NSM is annually observed nationwide as it aims to promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society.
The celebration also hopes to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
In 2022, the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) celebrates the 33rd National Statistics Month with the theme, “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with Informed Decisions, Better Policies.”
This emphasizes the critical role of statistics in crafting the most appropriate decisions and policies that are needed to boost efforts for recovery.
As the country’s recovery continues to take off, public and private sectors both play important roles by providing and producing the right data, actively participating in economic activities, and making informed decisions out of relevant available information.
One of the biggest activities of the 33rd NSM Celebration is the 15th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) on Oct. 3-5, 2022 at Crown Plaza Manila Galleria in Ortigas Ave. cor. Asian Development Bank Ave., Quezon City.
For Siquijor Province, the opening ceremony is at the PSA office located at the Ground Floor of the Business and Convention Center in Siquijor, Siquijor.
Several activities have been lined up for the month-long celebration such as the conduct of statistical/trivia quiz, capacity building, lecture, information dissemination on basic statistics, and infographics-making contest, among others.
