Commander Wescom talks about MNLF presence in Palawan

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan -- Vice Admiral Alberto B. Carlos PN, the Commander of Western Command talked with Dr. Mashur Jundam of the Moro National Liberation Front Central Committee to discuss the brewing issues regarding the presence and activities of the MNLF that can affect the security situation in the Province of Palawan.

Despite the results of previous plebiscite showing Palawan’s exclusion from MNLF proposed areas, reports on the activities of the group have reached Wescom. The Command then called for inter-agency intervention and consultation to ensure that existing agreements are observed while keeping the peace in the province.

"We have to ensure that the provisions of the Final Peace Agreement are fully understood and observed in Wescom's area of responsibility, hence this talk," said Vice Admiral Carlos addressing Dr. Jundam.

The MNLF leader, on the other hand, provided information and insights on the matter. Both sides committed to comply with the 1996 Final Peace Agreement to ensure that security and peace shall prevail in the Province of Palawan. (PR-WESCOM)
