Arakan DRRM members, stakeholders complete ICS 2 training

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- True to its commitment to establish a safer environment in Arakan when disasters strike, the Municipal Government of Arakan, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), underwent a 5-day Integrated Planning Course on Incident Command System (ICS) on October 24 to 28, 2022 at HOF Mansion Inn, Kidapawan City.

Twenty-six participants from MDDRMO, different municipal departments, including the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine National Police personnel toiled to pass the 5-day training conducted by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 12 led by its training chief Adrian Mishael Gino Morallas.

The ICS Integrated Planning Course, the second in a series of the ICS training courses, focuses primarily on the duties and responsibilities of the Planning Section Chief, indicating the importance of this position in the ICS.

Arakan town Mayor Jeam Villasor was very optimistic of the training, which aims to establish a well-equipped and knowledgeable Incident Management Team (IMT) that is essential in disaster response.

For her part, MDRRM Officer Jo-ann Gafate commended the attendees for their participation and support during the training.

“With this training, we are now confident that we have capable persons that will extend their help in times of disasters and calamities,” Gafate added.

Analyn Eran, a participant from Municipal Nutrition Action Office, expressed her gratitude for the knowledge and skills she learned from the training.

ICS is a vital tool for effective disaster response that sets its primordial concerns on the safety of responders, implementation of tactical objectives and efficient use of resources. (Philip C Chan/Bureau of Fire Protection-Polomolok)
