NAVAL, Biliran -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Biliran Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) conducted a caravan on November 7-10 around the province, promoting the upcoming 2023 DOST-SEI Scholarship Qualifying Examinations.
Hundreds of Grade 12 students from every Senior High Schools (SHS) in the province participated the forum. The four-day activity aims to generate more applicants and give opportunity to graduating SHS students this school year to become DOST scholars.
The information caravan covered a brief presentation about DOST, its mandates, programs and projects to give the students understanding of why the scholarships are implemented by the agency.
The main discussion focused on presenting the various scholarship program of the agency. Students are also taught on how to submit online application thru demonstrations.
First day of the caravan was held at Biliran Province State University Student Center and hosted by BiPSU Management headed by the University President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr. ably represented by Dr. Erwin Salvatierra, vice president for Student and External Affairs. This was participated by high school from Biliran, Almeria, Naval and Maripipi districts.
The second day of the caravan was held at Tucdao National High School and was attended by students from Kawayan Districts and in Culaba National Vocational High School participated by students from Culaba district.
The third day of the caravan was conducted at Caibiran National High School and participated by students from Caibiran District.
The fourth day was held at Cabucgayan National School for Arts and Trades-DepEd for the schools in Cabucgayan District.
With the caravan, DOST is expecting more applicants will be able to submit their documents on time so that they can join the face-to-face examinations which will be conducted again after two years of being stopped due to restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. (DOST-Biliran PSTC)
