MANDALUYONG CITY -- As the nation celebrates the Christmas holiday season, the Philippine Red Cross’s (PRC) RC143 volunteers across the archipelago are on full alert 24/7 to report information to the PRC’s Operations Center in case of emergencies and any eventualities.
The foremost humanitarian organization in the country has an army of volunteers in its 102 chapters nationwide who are trained to report and respond to their communities’ needs in case of a medical emergency or a disaster.
PRC’s Hotline 143 and (+632) 8790 2300 as well as the ambulance and emergency medical services are open 24/7. The PRC’s blood service facilities nationwide are also open during the holidays.
Dr. Gwendolyn T. Pang, PRC’s secretary general, also reminded the public to observe safety precautions during the holidays.
“It is important to make sure that our vehicles are roadworthy, especially for long drives. We also remind everyone of the importance of wearing seatbelts. At home, make sure that the food we serve are clean and safe, especially for very young children and the elderly. Double-check appliances, stoves, and other possible sources of fire,” Dr. Pang elaborated. (Philippine Red Cross)
