CARRASCAL, Surigao del Sur -- A team from the Local Government Unit of Carrascal - Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) conducted a field validation of the Cocoy’s Family Farm owned by Mr. Joel Antigo in Sitio Libuac of Barangay Doyos, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur on January 9, 2023.

Based on the report, the validation was conducted for the crafting of possible recommendation and other interventions to introduce the area for farm development.

The activity conducted is one of the priority initiatives of Carrascal Mayor Vicente H. Pimentel III in the agriculture sector to strengthen its extension services to farmers who are willing to adapt modern conceptualization of farm sites by engaging a diversified farming technology regardless of their farm location. 
It was learned that the validation was focused on site agricultural profiling, geo-tagging and terrain classification to identify suitable commodities by emphasizing a location-specific crop introduction to ensure its productivity.

The team accordingly also provided agri-extension support and technical assistance on how to develop the farm following the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) basic processes and thrust this calendar year 2023.

The LGU will serve as support and guide to the cooperator to prepare necessary documents to be submitted to identified government entities mandated to boost the agriculture sector in the country. (LGU-Carrascal, SDS)
