TACLOBAN CITY -- Proclamation No. 682 signed by former President Corazon C. Aquino on 28 January 1991 declares the month of February of every year as Civil Registration Month (CRM). This year's CRM theme: PSA @ 10: "Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation," is in line with PSA's drive to implement strategies to improve birth, marriage, and death registration using the latest state-of-the-art technologies to deliver quality civil registration products and services, generate and disseminate accurate and quality vital statistics.

PSA Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA RSSO VIII) will be launching the 33rd CRM celebration on 01 February 2023 at the 1st Floor, Gaisano Capital, Real St., Tacloban City and thru virtual platform.

The highlights of the activity include discussion on the overview on Republic Act No. 11909 otherwise known as an "Act Providing for the Permanent Validity of the Civil Registry Documents," Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) data dissemination, and discussion on Office of the Civil Registrar General (OCRG) Digitization of Civil Registry Documents and PhilSys.

This will be participated by PSA RSSO VIII personnel, PSA - Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOS), National Government Agencies, Local Civil Registrars and other stakeholders in the region.

The launching activity will be graced by PSA National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, Usec. Claire Dennis S. Mapa and Deputy National Statistician - PhilSys Registry Office and PhillD Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) Director Fred S. Sollesta.

The month-long celebration will be highlighted by different Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) activities initiated by PSA regional and provincial offices in coordination with all the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs), and other stakeholders.

These activities include: caravan, mobile registration, hanging/display of streamers, free issuance of certification, mass weddings, symposiums, civil registration quiz, slogan contest, and exhibits.
