GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The Social Security System (SSS) General Santos, in partnership with Barangay Calumpang, officially launched its KaltaSSS-Collect and E-Center sa Barangay Program which aim to provide social security coverage and digital services to the community.
The KaltaSSS-Collect Program shall provide social security protection to 442 barangay workers of Calumpang who are not covered by Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) benefits. Their active SSS membership as self-employed professionals will allow them to avail of social security benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, and funeral.
Aside from the benefits under the Social Security (SS) program, they can also avail of salary or calamity loan.
Meanwhile, Barangay Calumpang shall be responsible for the timely remittance of its workers’ SSS contributions through a salary deduction scheme.
“Calumpang is the 15th barangay in General Santos to participate in this program. We believe that SSS is very important for us to have social protection, and it’s not too late if we start now,” Punong Barangay Dupalco said.
“I am also excited to extend SSS online services to our constituents through the SSS E-Center sa Barangay,” he added.
The “E-Center sa Barangay Program” shall provide digitally-challenged members a venue for easy access to SSS electronic services by utilizing the barangay’s computer resources, information and communications technology-enabled services, and shall be manned by barangay employees trained by SSS GenSan prior to program implementation.
