Tourism road leading to Anislagan Hotspring in Naval completed

NAVAL. Biliran -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) recently completed the tourism road project leading to Anislagan Hotspring in Naval town. The project is in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and in close coordination of the office of Representative Gerardo J. Espina Jr. of the Lone District of Biliran.

Completed on January 10, 2023 under FY 2022, the road project is seen to promote the Anislagan Hotspring, to boost tourism in Naval, and soon to create a livelihood generating-income to the barangay.

The said project amounting to P19-M involves the widening of 400 meters existing concrete road and additional road concreting of 20 meters road with a width of 6 meters. It also involves the construction of 370 meters slope protection and 352 meters road slope protection with concrete barrier, construction of drainage, installation of reflectorized traffic pavement, and installation of solar lighting posts to illumine the road at night.

Lucy Magpusao, 63, resident and caretaker of Brgy. Anislagan Hotspring narrated that before the project implementation, tourists barely visit the place due to the inaccessibility to the tourism site.

“Naa may muari pero dyutay ra kay lisud. Lisud kay bakilid unya ang dalan ra nga amo agi-an, agi-an pa jud ug kabaw, syempre mulawom ilabi na kung mag-uwan,” said Magpusao.

(Only few people have the courage to come here, because of steep and muddy trail during rainy days that got worse because it's the same path where the carabao's tread).

“Mas maayo karon nga naa nay kalsada, nindot kaayu! Karon layo na ug kalahian kay lapad na ang kalsada, naa napu’y street light, nindot na gyud kaayu!,” she added.

(It is now different compared before, because of the wide road, it is now accessible and convenient. It got even better with the bright solar street lights during the night!).

Mapusao also expressed her gratitude to Rep. Gerardo J. Espina Jr. and to the DPWH for implementing the project.

“Salamat kang Cong. Espina ug sa DPWH nga gitabangan mi ngari nga himuan ug kalsada, iyang gipakaayo, kami wala me magdahum. Huna-huna namo kalsada ra nga gamay, karon pirti na gyud kanindot,” she said.

(Many thanks to Cong. Espina and to the DPWH who exceeded our expectations. All this time we thought they'd only build a concrete pathway, but it turns out to be a two-lane road!)

In 2018, DPWH-Biliran DEO completed the 400-meter road concreting leading to Anislagan Hotspring with a width of 4 meters, in convergence with the Department of Agriculture (DA). (DPWH-BDEO)
