TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur --  In line with the intensified campaign against loose firearms, three (3) civilians voluntarily surrendered their loose firearms to the Surigao del Sur operatives on Wednesday, March 1.

In a press statement, Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) chief Police Colonel Dennis Siruno bared that Hinatuan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Tagbina MPS, and Tago MPS catered to the voluntary surrender of the loose firearms.

Accordingly,  one unit of the improvised shotgun, without brand and serial number with one piece of 12-gauge live ammunition was surrendered to the personnel of Hinatuan Municipal Police Station (MPS).

The operatives of Tagbina MPS on the other hand confiscated a surrendered loose firearm whiich is  a piece of .38 caliber Revolver (Paltik), with defaced serial number and five (5) live ammunition.

While the personnel of Tago MPS also received a surrendered loose firearm from the civilian which is a piece of cal .45 pistol with Serial Number 1114648 with two magazines and twelve (12) ammunition.

Loose firearms refer to unregistered, obliterated, or altered firearms which have been lost or stolen, illegally manufactured firearms, registered firearms in the possession of an individual other than the licensee, and those with revoked licenses in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Siruno encouraged those gun owners with expired or unlicensed firearms to surrender them and coordinate to the nearest police station for safekeeping.
