Catarman School Board conducts inventory of LGU-paid teachers

CATARMAN, Northern Samar -- At the regular meeting of the Catarman Local School Board (LSB) on Monday, february 27, presided by Municipal Administrator Renato Esidera, the body conducted an inventory of teachers and other personnel in different public schools whose salaries are appropriated by the municipal government.

The Catarman local government unit, through its Special Education Fund (SEF), currently pays for the salaries of 39 personnel - mostly teachers - in elementary and high schools around  the six (6) School Districts of the DepEd in this town.

They are hired by the School Board to augment the local teaching manpower in public schools. Other personnel paid by the LGU  include teacher aides, office assistants, and watchmen.

The District Supervisors, assisted by the Human Resource Management and Development Office, the Municipal Budget Office and the LSB Secretariat, reviewed the status of each of the 39 personnel to verify their assignments and decide on the necessary adjustments in their appointments.

The LSB also discussed the proposed  establishment of a new public school in Barangay New Rizal which has been the clamor of the residents and officials in this interior barangay.

The DepEd guidelines and other requirements for opening of a new school will be presented for consideration of the Board in its next monthly meeting. (Catarman MIO)
