CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur -- Cantilan Local Chief Executive Philip A. Pichay successfully officiated the Oath Taking of the newly elected officers of the Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council (MAFC) and Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) recently in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.
Pichay emphasized their vital role as he encouraged the new officers to be more active and resilient amidst the challenges facing in the agri-fishery sector.
"The stronger the cooperatives, the stronger the federations, the better for the people of Cantilan," the mayor noted.
Municipal Agriculturist, Ceasar Q. Blanco, turned over the key of responsibilities to the new MAFC Chair John Elven G. Vega, and the new MFARMC Chair, Nicolas P. Azarcon.
The MAFC & MFARMC accordingly will serve as the local policy-making body and partners in developing agriculture and fishery initiatives. They play vital roles as a channel of communication and as enablers for responsiveness, relevance, transparency, and accountability.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Director Engr. Ricardo M. Oñate, Jr., Provincial Agriculturist, Marcos M. Quico, and SB member Romeo Emmanuel D. Azarcon, were also in attendance to grace the momentous event, sharing their enthusiasm and commitment to helping the farmers and fisherfolk in Cantilan town.
