PLGU Samar capacitates LGUs, stakeholders on EOC management

CATBALOGAN CITY -- True to its commitment to achieve a resilient and proactive Samarnons, the Provincial Government of Samar has recently conducted an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Training Course for LGUs and stakeholders at the MGrand Royale, this city.

The training aims to apprise the local disaster risk reduction and management officers, responders, and partner national government agencies, on how to properly manage EOCs in times of emergency.

Governor Sharee Ann T. Tan conveyed her appreciation through a congratulatory message read by Golda Meir T. Tabao, Information Officer, saying, "The move of the province is to invest in its human capital. The province supports the trainings of our human resources in order to help the communities, and provide better services."

The governor likewise emphasized the importance of cascading  to the communities the knowledge acquired in order to empower the localities and for them to participate in improving the lives of everyone.

Meanwhile, in his message, PDRRMO Manuel Van A. Torrevillas stressed, "One of the the commitments of the Provincial Government of Samar is to capacitate the different local government units under Samar, including the national government agencies, uniformed personnel and other stakeholders."

He further said that the training would help the participants manage disaster operations more efficiently especially if  and when an Incident Command System will be implemented.

One of the highlights of the training was the Simulation Exercise where the participants  managed a mock Emergency Operation Center based on the learnings acquired.

A total of 38 participants successfully completed the training course. (Samar PIO)
