DA-PRDP conducts impact assessment of FMR to beneficiaries in SurSur town

SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur -- To gather baseline data for post-project impact assessment, the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) in the Caraga Region recently conducted a three-day Baseline Profiling Survey  in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur for the Buhisan to Manumnum Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) project.

Headed by the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Unit, the team partners with the Municipal Project Management and Implementation Unit in identifying the farmer-beneficiaries within the 3.9 km FMR funded by the DA-PRDP co-financed by the European Union.

Amounting to a total of P78.6 million, the FMR provides access to the production areas and enhances the efficiency of transporting agricultural products to the market , which is reportedly lacking at the moment in the said area.

After its target completion this year, the Project intends to see more opportunities for farmers to gain higher productivity and improve the standard of living of the 3,226 individuals who will directly benefit from the FMR.

The baseline profiling conducted by the M&E Unit will ensure that reliable data are gather as a reference in conducting an impact assessment through the Rapid Appraisal of Emerging Benefits (RAEB), a PRDP tool which is used to determine the success of the project atleast one year after project completion.

With the immediate feedback from farmers and beneficiaries, the project implementation will measure the achievement of the desired outcome  for the farmers and beneficiaries, as end users.  (NGPB/DA-Caraga/PIA-Surigaso del Sur)
