NAVAL, Biliran -- A beneficiary of the Department of Science and Technology's Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program was able to adopt innovation to upgrade its capability to produce low fat, low sugar ice cream.
A training on various formulations of soft ice cream was conducted at the production facility of Gracia's Retail and Food Services in Cabucgayan, Biliran on March 27-28 by the experts from the Department of Food Science and Technology, College of Agriculture and Food Science, Visayas State University in Baybay City, .
Resource persons, Dr. Eileen Bandalan, Assistant Prof III of VSU assisted by Leilani M. Valdevieso, transferred three formulations of soft ice cream to the four workers of the firm and three Senior High School Immersion students from Naval School of Fisheries under the DOST Biliran immersion program.
The training formed part of the commitment of DOST-8 through the Biliran Provincial S&T Office to deliver STI interventions to the MSMEs in the province.
Gracia's is a micro enterprise in Magbangon, Cabucgayan who availed SETUP assistance through acquiring GMP compliant equipment for pizza and soft ice cream production. (DOST-Biliran PSTC)
