Service caravan continues in Sitio Tabinas

CARMEN, Surigao del Sur -- The local government unit of Carmen continues to serve the local constituents through a service  caravan dubbed “Hatod-Serbisyo”  recently hel d in Sitio Tabinas in Barangay Hinapoyan, Carmen of this province.

The local folks received the various free services such as medical checkup, free medicine, vaccination, dental, agricultural, social, and nutrition, among others.

The event was successfully implemented through the hard work and effort of the LGU officials and employees from the different departments under the leadership of Mayor Jane V. Plaza, in collaboration with the national government agencies for the peace and order of the activity.

Sitio Tabinas is a far-flung and upland area with travel time of about two (2) hours from the mainland of Carmen. The only way to traverse the rough and narrow path and reach the location is either by  walking or riding a motorcycle locally known as 'habal-habal.'

As a geographically isolated and disadvantaged area with existing threat on insurgency,  Sitio Tabinas is often left out to receive and benefit the many essential government services during the past administration.

Fortunately, the agony of the indigenous community was brought to the attention of Mayor Plaza. With strong determination, the local chief executive of Carmen took this as a challenge and embraced it as a mission to uplift the living condition of the locals in Sitio Tabinas and accorded them with the much-needed government services.

Since 2016, the mayor constantly visited the community and provided the locals the essential services they needed especisally on livelihood programs. (LGU-Carmen, SDS/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
