CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur -- A total of 597 pre-service teachers of the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) recently attended the 2023 student-teachers congress with the theme, "The Future of Learning: Empowering Aspiring Educators for a Rapidly Evolving World" at the Center for Culture and the Arts - Cantilan Campus in Cantilan town.

The Dean of the College of Teacher Education, Dr. Annie Y. Samarca said in her speech, “The purpose of the activity is to support the total transformation of our student-teachers.”

The event showcased the skills on research and teaching, including the experiences which gave significant contirbution to professional growth.

The presence of NEMSU President, Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon enlightened the crowd and drew inspiration to the activity. He emphasized on understanding the competition in the workplace. Thus encouraging and motivating students toward opportunities, not only in local setting but globally.

Moreover, the soon-to be  teachers of NEMSU were fortunate for the warm welcome from the father of the cradle of the  town, Cantilan Mayor Philip A. Pichay. “My vision is to provide a better environment for quality education in our town. So when I see board passers, it makes me fulfill my vision," Mayor Pichay said.

Furthermore, he uttered positive messages concerning his experiences and actual advices that are very fruitful and relevant to the pre-service teachers. “Always remember to have technical, human and conceptual skills.”

Ultimately, the said event embodied a holistic approach to education and teaching as a profession. It affirmed the importance of academic excellence, personal growth, professional development, and the formation of lasting connections. By embracing competition and camaraderie, NEMSU student-teachers are equipped with the motivation and skills they needed to excel in their future endeavors as professional educators.
