TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- As a testament of its efforts in protecting the communities from drug abuse, the local government unit of Tandag City ranks first in the province of Surigao del Sur to have been certified as the LGU with a fully functional Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP), and this makes the city as the fourth in the entire Caraga region.
The deliberation declared barangays Maticdum, San Antonio, Pangi, and San Jose as drug-free, while the barangays Bongtud, Bag-ong Lungsod, and Mabua retained their drug-cleared status.
The deliberation was attended by Mayor Roxanne Pimentel, CLGOO Olivia Bagasbas, legal officer and Administrator Atty. Janissa Delicona, CADAC focal person Ephraim Toral, and the seven punong barangays of Tandag City.
As of today, June 8, there are four drug-free barangays, and seventeen drug-cleared barangays, completing the 21 barangays of Tandag City.
The local chief executive urged the public to continue being vigilant and keep the determination to maintain it as drug-free Tandag City.
“We must remain steadfast in our efforts to prevent the resurgence of illegal drugs, and keep our community secure and prosperous for the next generations,” the mayor said. (LGU-Tandag City/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur
