Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project nears completion

PALO, Leyte -- The P1.031 billion Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project has reached 85% physical completion and is on track based on its 30 June 2023 deadline per contract between the contractor, Ilsung Construction Co. Ltd and the Department of Public Works and Highways - Unified Project Management Office (DPWH-UPMO).

This was learned during the field monitoring visit conducted on 27 April 2023.

Two (2) out of the three (3) component bridges, namely, Simora Bridge and Jangtud Bridge, were already completed, while Jangtud Bridge II is 90% completed. Remaining construction works for road safety countermeasures, drainages, and earthworks will also be finished soon.

The said road project aims to improve the economic situation in the surrounding communities through an improved transportation system that will connect the highway loop in Samar Island.

The road will help establish the Samar Island Circumferential Road which is seen to bring the much-needed development in the communities that the road project will traverse. (SJOO/ML/NEDA VIII)
