Samar Barangay Health Workers participate in Bridging Leadership Training

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar -- Some 26 Barangay Health Worker Federation Presidents from the local government units under the Province of Samar took a Bridging Leadership Training on June 27-29 at the Balay Samarnon, Catbalogan City.

Gov. Sharee Ann T. Tan recognized the noble yet utterly important role of BHWs in the community, and their part in the improvement of the primary health care.

Gov. Tan also expressed her support on the professionalization of the BHWs through various training programs and accreditations.

Further, the leadership training is in congruence with the commitment of the Provincial Government to capacitate its human capital, by developing their leadership competencies, thus, subsequently improving health outcomes

At the grassroots level, Barangay Health Workers are the first point of contact between the health care system and the rest of the community, therefore, they are among the important human resources in the Primary Health Care.

A Bridging Leadership Training refines the leadership skills of participants, for them to better understand social inequities. In the process, they develop ownership of the said societal challenge, thereby embracing the responsibility to address the social divide. (Samar PIO)
