The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) actively engaged in High-Level Roundtable Discussions (RTD) on Day 1 of the 2023 OGP Global Summit Core held on September 6, 2023.
Standing out as the only ASEAN member representative among anti-corruption champions in the Panel, DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman shared various open contracting reforms, gains, and game-changing amendments to the Government Procurement Reform Act during the RTD on Sustaining Leadership and Catalyzing Global Action on Anti-Corruption.
“The Philippine procurement system also had its share of controversies in the past. Thus, for this new Administration, we significantly advanced open contracting reforms and enriched participatory spaces for improved transparency and accountability in government procurement,” the Budget Chief shared.
Secretary Pangandaman was joined by Government Procurement Policy Board-Technical Support Office Executive Director Rowena Candice M. Ruiz, and DBM-Procurement Service Executive Director Dennis S. Santiago.
Meanwhile, in the RTD on Trends, Challenges, and Innovations: New Frontiers in Digital Governance, DBM Undersecretary and Chief Information Officer Maria Francesca M. Del Rosario highlighted the importance of digital governance and data science given the country’s geographical context: “We are highly affected by all kinds of calamities…so it is very important for us to have robust policies and execution of digital governance and infrastructure.” (DBM)
