TACLOBAN CITY -- The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA - RSSO 8), together with the entire statistical community of the region, will spearhead the 34th National Statistics Month (NSM) Celebration in October 2023.
This year, the NSM will carry the theme, “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines.”
The theme emphasizes the importance of data and statistics in enhancing health outcomes and aims to accelerate the nation's socioeconomic development with the use of quality health and health-related statistics.
This year’s NSM Opening Ceremony will be hosted by the Department of Health Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development on 02 October 2023 at Gaisano Capital Real, Tacloban City.
Other lined-up activities to watch out for at the regional level are: Kapihan sa PIA Eastern Visayas (September 29); Search for Best Agency Statistical Exhibit (October 2-27); 2023 Virtual Fun Run Opening (October 2-27); FB Stats Go! (every Wednesday and Friday of October); Mental Health Forum for Government Personnel (October 10); 27th PSQ Regional Championship (October 12); 1st EV Provincial Statistics Summit (October 19); Search for Best PSC Statistical Booth (October 19); Lecture on Marine Pollution Statistics and Interagency Coastal Clean-up (October 19); Launching of the 2024 Search for Best PSC; and the 34th NSM Closing Ceremony (October 28).
The PSA Board Chairperson and National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan issued Memorandum Circular No. 2023-12 prescribing that NSM activities to be conducted may be in the form of symposia, workshops, orientation seminars, exhibits, slide shows, webinars, conferences, quizzes/contests (such as poster making, jingle making, statistiktok and photography contest), outdoor activities (such as fun run, biking), audio-visual presentations (AVPs), streamers, dashboards, and other digital display as well as publication of statistical reports, indicators, and other relevant information, among others, with particular emphasis on the theme and the agency's subtheme, if any.
PSA enjoins all departments, bureaus, offices, and instrumentalities of the national government, government-owned and controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, local government units, the private sector, and the public to continuously support and actively participate in the NSM celebration.
