TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – A total of 130 individuals recently attended the training on Safety Officer 1 at Gold Bar and Grill, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

The activity bolstered workplace safety within the province of Surigao del Sur, as spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Surigao del Sur Field Office (SDSFO) , and the Tandag City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (TCCII).

Engr. Christian Jaguit, officer of the  Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Caraga, and Engr. Rey Dumalaba of DOLE SDSFO facilitated the training and enabled participants to identify workplace hazards, develop safety plans, execute emergency response procedures, fire safety, first aid, and occupational health standards.

Francis Marc O. Ty, TCCII vice president for external affairs, shared that the collaboration between DOLE SDS and TCCII showed a shared commitment to fostering a culture of safety within the local business community saying, “By equipping business owners and representatives with the tools needed to safeguard their employees, this initiative is poised to significantly impact the province’s overall workplace safety landscape."

Johnrel Vallescas, one of the attendees, shared his thoughts that the training represented a long-term investment for both employee welfare and business sustainability where participants emerged not only as advocates for workplace safety, but also as leaders in their respective industries.

The Safety Officer 1 training program, represented a significant step to enhancing workplace safety within the province, and the entire region as well.
