The Department of Labor and Employment – Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE-ADSFO) celebrated the National Children’s Month and 90th founding anniversary of DOLE with a Project Angel Tree in Bayugan, Agusan del Sur. 

Project Angel Tree is a program of DOLE that provides an array of social services reminding child laborers that they are not alone in riding the waves of life. Benefactors or “angels” shared their generosity to the children through school supplies, food packs, and personal gifts. Moreover, the Local Civil Registry and local government unit (LGU) of San Francisco facilitated the processing and issuance of the children’s birth certificates. 

The program was attended by DOLE-ADSFO head Buhawe Corvera-Correa, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) manager and city administrator of Bayugan Grace D. Asis, municipal PESO manager of San Luis Marlinita A. Guarin, officials from the local government unit of Bayugan City, and private partners who also signed the Pledge of Commitment to end child labor. 

In her inspirational message, Correa stressed the importance of sharing amidst life's struggles and thanked the “angels” of the child laborers for making the event successful. 

“It is my earnest hope that you will achieve your dreams. Dream high, dream big!” said Correa. 

Moreover, PESO Manager and City Administrator Asis expressed her gratitude to the department for continuously supporting the LGU. 

“Rest assured that we will continue to solidify our partnership to create a meaningful change in the lives of every Bayuganon and to the Agusan del Sur as a whole,” shared Asis.
