CABADBARAN CITY – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) Caraga kicked off the Usapang 2Ps: Pasahod at Productivity on January 12 at Gazebo Pools and Resort, Cabadbaran City.
This activity provided the 70 establishments represented by management and workers from different micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Cabadbaran City on the agency’s wage and productivity programs, such as the package of productivity training and technical assistance under the Productivity Toolbox and designing productivity or performance-based compensation schemes under the two-tiered wage system and information on latest issuance of wage order and other wage related topics.
Earl D. Dela Victoria, board secretary VI, in his message, stressed the importance of this activity to the MSMEs, stating, “The establishments will be informed of the different programs and services that will help them to be productive.”
“This served as an opportunity to gather information and learnings for their workplaces, including the access for productivity training offered by the office,” he added.
Dir. Dela Victoria also explained the performance based incentives schemes that will eventually help workers to be more productive, augment income through performance. He encouraged the participants, especially employers to adopt or implement Incentive schemes in their respective workplaces.
“Companies with happy workers are productive companies,” he noted.
The Productivity Toolbox was thoroughly discussed by Sara Mae C. Dahuyla, information technology officer to the participants. She explained the objectives of each productivity program for the appreciation of the participants to interest them in availing of the free training provided by the office.
Cornelius B. Mahinay, supervising labor and employment officer, elaborated the latest Wage Order No. 18, wage exemption and facility evaluation and on wage distortion.
Accordingly, Wage Order No. 18 took effect on January 1, 2024 and the new increase is applicable to all minimum wage earners within the region. Mahinay further informed the deadline of filing of wage exemption on February 29, 2024.
“Correcting wage distortion is significant as it prevents issues and conflict between workers due to the impact of such distortion,” Mahinay said.
He explained the different suggested formulas for the company to work on as remedies and apply what is suited to their respective companies.
As finale, Dela Victoria urged establishments to avail the free productivity services of the office.
