Bangsamoro legislators file Ranaw dev't authority act

MARAWI CITY (PIA) -- An agency responsible for the development and preservation of Lake Lanao will be established once the Bangsamoro Parliament approves BTA Bill No. 111.

Several lawmakers have put forward a bill to create the Ranaw Development Authority, which will be a quasi-judicial regulatory body that will keep an eye on how Lake Lanao and the natural resources in the area are used, explored, developed, protected, restored, and kept up.

The Ranaw Development Authority, which is part of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), will be the main government agency in charge of coordinating, planning, managing, and carrying out development programs and resource use in the Ranao region's inland waters.

According to PB No. 111, Ranaw Region includes all of Ranaw and all other lakes in Lanao del Sur, as well as all towns and municipalities in the area.

Once the plan is approved, the Ranaw Development Authority will be made up of a board of directors led by the MENRE provincial director for Lanao del Sur.

Together with the right local government units, the authority will also make a comprehensive master plan to carry out its strategies and goals.

The Ranaw Development Act was first filed in the plenary by former Member of Parliament, Lawyer Maisara Dandamun-Latiph.

It was then introduced in the second parliament by MPs Diamila Ramos, Lanang Ali Jr., Ali Solaiman, Marjanie Macasalong, Abdullah Macapaar, Basit Abbas, Said Shiek, Ali Montaha Babao, Khalid Hadji Abdullah, Abdulazis Amenodin, Nabila Margarita Pangandaman, Amroussi Macatanong, Eddie Alih, Amilbahar Mawallil, and Rasol Mitmug Jr.

The proposed measure was already talked about with the public during the first parliament, when it was part of the priority legislation.
