'Queenie' intensifies into Tropical Storm

RIZAL (PIA) -- Tropical Depression (TD) 'Queenie'' has intensify into a Tropical Storm (TS), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said late Monday morning.

At 10:00 a.m., 'Queenie' was located 815 km east of Northeastern Mindanao, carrying maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Currently, it is moving west southwestward at 10 kph and has strong to gale-force winds that extend outwards up to 220 km from the center.

There are no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) in effect, at present.

Tropical Storm 'Queenie' entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 5:00 AM today. It is expected to move westward in the next 12 hours before turning generally west northwestward tomorrow (Tuesday) through Wednesday morning.
