It is still undeniable that some individuals are hesitant to get their COVID-19 jabs due to doubts in COVID-19 vaccines despite the effort of health offices, local government units, communicators and other information arms to raise awareness of the general populace regarding the advantages of being fully vaccinated.

Since the start of this pandemic in early 2020, medical practitioners and researchers are trying to find treatment for COVID patients. However, it's not known if any of these treatments will prove to be effective against COVID-19. It's critical to complete medical studies to determine whether any of these medications are effective against COVID-19.

Health experts including the Food and Drug Administration even releases warnings not to try these medications especially without prescriptions and doctor's approval; even if we have heard that they may be potent. These drugs can have serious side effects. Some of these drugs are said to be reserved for individual who are seriously ill and under a doctor's care.

Later on, an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) was granted to some brands of vaccines. According to FDA, an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) is a mechanism to facilitate the availability and use of medical countermeasures, including vaccines, during public health emergencies, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. Under an EUA, FDA may allow the use of unapproved medical products, or unapproved uses of approved medical products in an emergency to diagnose, treat, or prevent serious or life-threatening diseases or conditions when certain statutory criteria have been met, including that there are no adequate, approved, and available alternatives.

From here, the government and the private sectors and organizations started and strengthened their vaccination campaign. Priority groups were identified and the vaccination has started. However, some individuals are still hesitant.

In order to encourage the public and their respective constituents, local government units initiated some programs, which they believe could encourage more individuals to get vaccinated.

Vaxx to the Future
 
In support to the National vaccination Campaign from November 29 to December 02, 2021, Isabela City launched its “Vaxx to the Future” program on November 22 that aims to reach its target 66,056 individuals to achieve the 70% threshold to early herd immunity.

Vaxx to the Future is a concerted effort that involves eight vaccination sites, local hospitals, schools, civic organizations and private establishments, chipping in to bring Isabela City out of the danger as soon as possible.

The Basilan General Hospital launched its mass vaccination program from November 29 to December 01 in support to the three-day National Vaccination Day.

The Isabela City Health Office will also establish three more vaccination sites to cater to individuals from island barangays and other far-flung areas.

Since November 22 when Vaxx to the Future was launched, the Isabela City Team Bakuna has observed an increasing number of individuals who are willing to get vaccinated.

In November 29 alone, Isabela City recorded a total of 2,672 vaccinated individuals.

From November 22-30, Isabela City Health Office recorded a total of 11,710 individuals who received their COVID-19 jabs.

The Vaxx to the Future was derived from the Back to the Future film in 1985 written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. This is a successful film after numerous collaborative failures, their idea was rejected over 40 times by studios because it was considered raunchy enough to compete with successful comedies era.

In the same manner, the Vaxx to the Future is expected to bring Isabela City into attaining herd immunity as early as possible. This is in the hope to experience the life before COVID-19, which was free from virus and out of danger. (RVC/NDR/PIA Basilan)
