A Happily Ever After found by a senior couple

In a magical way, love tastes sweeter when you see your soulmate at the altar, exchanging your vows, putting on the rings, and sharing a kiss for the first time as a married couple in front of a commitment ceremony.

In an interview with PIA, the senior citizen couple named Victorio Buccat and Erlinda Palacay have proven that love really knows no age as they sweared 'having each other's hand' until the end.

Like the extraordinary couple named Victor Buccat, 77 years old from San Juan town and Erlinda Palacay, 74 years old from San Fernando City, both in La Union, who had experiences of elderly and felt ‘life is no longer worth living’ but tied the knot this love month.

The commitment ceremony initiated by the local government of San Juan, which is officiated by Mayor Arturo Valdriz, is part of its annual program dubbed “Danggayan sa Barangay” wherein all local government unit services are extended to the 41 barangays in the municipality.

Through the sacrament of matrimony, the couple had finally found each other's home.

“September 25 last year kami nagmeet tapos nanligaw naman siya at pagkatapos ng mga ilang buwan, doon kami nagkukwentuhan hanggang sa humantong sa kung anong meron kami ngayon, na may umusbong na pagmamahal sa amin,” Palacay narrated.

To them, their marriage was an answered prayer for they would be there for each other no matter what and defy everything that might set them apart.

A senior citizen couple has finally sealed a promise of forever with a kiss during the commitment ceremony held in San Juan, La Union on February 16.

Palacay thanked her better half for showing how it feels to be pursued in a way that honors God.

Kaya alam ko, ang pagmamahalan namin, ‘til death do us part.”

On the other side, Buccat vowed to hold each other’s hand all the way whether they feel victorious or defeated.

Truly, if you are destined to be with each other, fate will always make its way to reach the love founded in peace, where faith in God resides in their love, as a married couple. (JCR/AMB/MJTAB/KJCR, PIA La Union)
