One of the most awaited youth activities in La Union reawakened after its three years of deep slumber - Agoo Youth Camp has its #BigCampBack2023!
Three years since the corona virus 2019 started to threaten the country, youths tagged as one of the most vulnerable groups, face-to-face events for the young ones were suspended for quite longer time.
Thanks to the boosted immunity given by COVID-19 vaccines, activities for them will no longer be limited to virtual setups.
The AYC is an annual activity of the local government which aims to build discipline, friendship/camaraderie, and team-work among the youths of the municipality.
With the efforts, dedication and hardwork of the Local Government Unit of Agoo, its Local Youth Development Council and its Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, the local youths have once again enjoyed the life of a camper of AYC.
Active youths from across various learning institutions in the municipality such as the President Elpidio Quirino National High School, Agoo Kiddie Special (AKS) School, Don Eufemio F. Eriguel Memorial National High School, Agoo National Vocation High School, Capas Integrated School, Cubal Integrated School, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Saint Mary’s Academy, Agoo Montesssori Learning Center and High School Inc, Polytechnic College of La Union, San Julian Integrated School, and Dr. Manuel T. Cases Sr. National High School jam-packed the campsite at the Agoo Eco-Park.
Organizers took months of rigorous planning since July 2022 for AYC Campers to enjoy the five-day event staged on February 22-26, 2023 full of “Laro ng Lahi” and many other team-building activities.
And the AYC has been missed by the Agoo Youth, participants ensured that they were all-prepped up for friendly debates and talent showdowns during the #TheBigCampBack2023.
“We want to seize this opportunity for it is a great way to step out from our comfort zone, build good camaraderie, mold our inner talent, and condition our minds that we can’t make it to the top if we will not work together,” participants from the AKS School shared in a video message.
Municipal Councilor Mark Anthony Refugia, a former AYC Camper and youth leader, noted how unique AYC Camp is and how it serves as a platform for youths to boost personal growth and community involvement.
“Sana sa naging paglabas nila sa camp ay natutunan nila yung disiplina ng isang lider, kung paano mag-manage ng time, at kung paano makisalamuha at makisama sa ibang kapwa nila kabataan,” said Refugia.
In AYC #TheBigCampBack2023, LGU Agoo has not only made the leadership cum personal development camp possible, but has time and again manifested its love for the youths and its dedication to make its community a better place to live in for the younger generation.
And the youth of Agoo, La Union has not only exemplified its wit and talent, but more so, its willingness and cooperation to become better versions of themselves thus, be more empowered ready to take the lead in the future. (JCR/MJTAB/CGC, PIA Region 1)
