Twenty-five residents mostly members of Indigenous Peoples (IP) community from Dumagat tribe”  were trained to raise organic chicken by making alternative feeds instead of buying commercial grains.

Former Brgy. Kagawad Rebecca Austria said “Malaking tulong po sa amin sa pang-araw-araw na buhay lalo na sa aming pagpapakain sa aming mga hayop na medyo hindi malaki ang puhunan ang aming magagastos di katulad ng mga commercial na patuka na sobrang mahal” (This will be a big help in our day to day living especially in feeding our animals since we will spend less compared to commercial feeds that are expensive).

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa mga programang ibinaba sa aming barangay, kasi yung mga information dissemination na ibinigay sa amin ngayon ay lagi akong nahihirapan na ipaliwanag sa kabarangay ko ay ibinahagi ninyo.” (Thank you for the information programs that you discussed with us, the information that you gave which I always have difficulty in explaining to our constituents were tackled here), Punong Brgy. The training was provided by the Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA)  as part of their program. One of the event's highlight is the  10th Information Caravan/One-Stop Shop of the Philippine Information Agency, Camarines Norte Information Center with the Camarines Norte Communicators Network (CamNorte ComNet).

Brgy. Pinagtigasan is a remote area that is part of Calaguas Island in Vinzons town. Calaguas Island is one of the tourist spots in Camarines Norte. To reach the area, one has to ride a motorized banca. The travel takes more or less two hours from the port of Vinzons town.

16 government agencies converge to provide programs, and services in Brgy Pinagtigasan, Calaguas Island to more  or less 200 residents of Brgy. Pinagtigasan, Calaguas Island, Vinzons Camarines Norte on April 20.

The activity was spearheaded by the Philippine Information Agency, Camarines Norte Information Center with the Camarines Norte Communicators Network (CamNorte ComNet).

Information Center Manager Rosalita B. Manlangit, convenor of Cam Norte ComNet said that the group aims to disseminate information on government programs and to provide services to the barangay. “We are the “Marites” of the government but we  provide reliable and truthful information about government programs and services”.

She said that the CamNorte ComNet conducted the 10th information caravan for the first time at the barangay level since it was  previously conducted at the municipal level wherein participants are mostly brgy. officials and civic organizations' representatives.

Election Officer, Speakers’ Bureau Member Rommel R. Pajarin, President of CamNorte ComNet said that the group is composed of government Public Information Officers (PIOs) from the national and local government units.

“Kami po ay nagbibigay serbisyo, pumupunta sa mga barangay, munisipyo para hindi kayo ang pumunta sa opisina ng gobyerno para ibigay sa inyo ang kailangang impormasyon at serbisyo” (We are giving our services in the barangay, municipality for you not to come to our office to seek information and services), Pajarin said.

Government programs that were discussed during the caravan include Voters’ Education in line with the upcoming Brgy. and Sanguniang Kabataan Elections, face-to-face visitation guidelines for the relatives of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), consumer rights and welfare, scholarship programs, special eligibility for Brgy officials, and free education enrollment guidelines of the state college.

The fire safety tips and awareness are also discussed along with the birth and other civil registration processes, foreshore lease, agriculture programs, how to avail of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), application and issuances of certification pre-condition to Project Development Proponents to benefit the Dumagat tribe in the area, infrastructure projects and the provincial government of Camarines Norte’s programs.

The group also distributed 2 kilos of rice to 100 residents of the area along with one fishnet raffled,  and distributed vegetable seeds to all the participants during the caravan.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC),  Technical Education Skills, and Development (TESDA), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Phil. Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the provincial government of Camarines Norte were all represented during the said activity. 

The activity was supported by the local government unit of Vinzons and the provincial government of Camarines Norte.

The Cam Norte ComNet  already conducted 9 information caravan services in the towns of Paracale, Vinzons, Mercedes, and Capalonga in 2018;  and Basud in 2019. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a combination of face-to-face information caravan was held in Paracale in 2020 and in Jose Panganiban and Daet in 2022. Last year, ComNet restarted the face-to-face caravan in the town of San Lorenzo Ruiz.

Cam Norte ComNet supports Phil. Earth Day

To support the Philippine Earth Day, the Camarines Norte Communicators Network (CamNorteComNet) grabbed the opportunity to plant tree seedlings at the Mahabang Buhangin,in Calaguas Island, Vinzons, Camarines Norte.

The ComNet planted 5 seedlings of Agoho tree and 100 Bitaog or Dangkalan specie in line with the celebration of Phil. Earth Day on April 22.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources PENRO Officer-in-Charge Nestor Franz A. Fortuno explained the importance of trees in protecting beaches and the environment.

He urged the public to join any environmental activities like tree planting and clean-up drives on the coastline as their share for the environment and for the next generation to come. (RBManlangit-PIA5/Camarines Norte)
