As the sun set on the picturesque venue at the Kauswagan International Convention Center, the air filled with anticipation, eager to witness the cultural performances that awaited.
Imelda Dela Cruz Quibranza, the governor of Lanao del Norte, hosted Governor's Night, during which the stage came alive with a kaleidoscope of colors, rhythmic beats, and enchanting melodies that took the audience on a cultural journey.
"We have come together as experts and advocates, but tonight is an occasion to have fun sharing ideas and experiences beyond the professional realm. We warmly welcome our international guests to an ambience that reflects the warmth and charm of Filipino hospitality," the governor said.
The Integrated Performing Arts Guild of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), renowned for their expertise in traditional performing arts, mesmerized the audience with their portrayal of the legendary Sarimanok.
The Sarimanok is a captivating and mythical creature deeply rooted in Maranao culture. The graceful movements and resplendent costumes of the performers breathed life into the mythical bird, showcasing the cultural heritage of the Maranao people and their mythical folklore.
With traditional instruments in hand, including kulintang, gongs, and debakan, the multi-talented performers of Kalilang Traditional Music Ensemble showcased the mesmerizing beauty of their cultural heritage through the traditional art form known as "kapkalilang."
Their synchronized performance, accompanied by the rhythmic interplay of their instruments, transported the audience to a realm where time seemed to stand still.
Meanwhile, talented performers from Christ the King College showcased the vibrant festivals of Lanao del Norte, including the Alimango Festival, Kahumayan Festival, and Sagayan Festival.
With their energetic dances and colorful costumes, the performers brought the essence of these festivals to life. Their dynamic performances captured the cultural significance of each festival, emphasizing the importance of preserving these traditions and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the province.
