Are you a student in Ilocos Sur who’s searching for a college scholarship?
The provincial government of Ilocos Sur may have just what you’re looking for.
Through its Education and Scholarship Affairs Office, the provincial government has recently opened an application for Ilocos Sur Educational Assistance and Scholarship Program (ISEASP).
Edralin Regua, head of the Provincial Education and Scholarship Affairs Office, said they started to accept applications on June 21.
“The program aims to provide cash grants worth P5,000 to eligible and priority students especially those affected by financial crisis or great obstacles but are still academic achievers,” she said in an interview.
To apply for the grant, Regua stated the following requirements for interested applicants to comply.
First is the duly accomplished application form, which can be downloaded on this link: https://tinyurl.com/ISEASPApplicationForm.
Second is the certificate of residency of the applicant and his/her good moral character from the last school attended.
Next is the certificate of indigency of the parent/guardian of the applicant or their income tax return from the Bureau of Internal Revenue if the parent/guardian is a permanent government employee.
Lastly, the applicant should bring two pieces of his/her picture (1.5 x 1.5 in white background) and a copy of their latest grades from the last semester/school year attended.
Regua clarified that applicants should have an 83% or 2.25 average and they shouldn’t have grades lower than 78% or 2.75.
Upon completing the aforementioned requirements, students must submit their application at the Provincial Education and Scholarship Affairs Office located on the 2nd floor of the Provincial Capitol Building in Vigan City.
As of June 30, Regua said they have recorded a total of 85 applicants and they have not set a deadline for the submission of requirements.
Once they have reviewed the requirements of applicants, they shall be receiving a notification on the schedule of their qualifying exam to be conducted at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College-Santa Maria Campus in Santa Maria town and Ilocos Sur Community College in Bantay town.
Apart from the scholarship grant, the provincial government also provides additional incentives to ISEASP scholar-graduates.
It can be remembered that on November 7, 2022, the provincial government provided incentives to Batch 2022 graduates, which is an annual tradition to extend gratitude and recognize the scholars’ achievements for the past years.
Each graduate received P1,000 while those who graduated with Latin honors received larger incentives – P30,000 for summa cum laude, P20,000 for magna cum laude, and P10,000 for cum laude.
