OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)— The City Government of Ozamiz has recently opened the Asenso Ozamiz Wellness Park, located at Cotta Fort, Baybay Triunfo. This attractive area provides a space for people to enjoy and relax.

The new park has been built at a cost of P160M. It boasts various amenities such as playground equipment, a good landscape, kiosks, a food park, solar ground lights, an entrance arc, a garden, comfort rooms, and informative signage. The plaza also features fountains, an amphitheater, playsets, open spaces, and more. 

Asenso Wellness Park joins the ranks of esteemed facilities such as the Park and Ponds Wellness Center in Davao City, the Mariveles Wellness Center Project, and the Valenzuela City Multispecialty Healthcare and Wellness Center, which offer a similar range of wellness services and amenities.

This park augments the tourism experience of Ozamiz's very own original tourist attractions, says Ozamiz Mayor Henry "Indy" Oaminal, who also  said that the Asenso Ozamiz Wellness Park is a symbol of their vision for the city to have an attractive area where people can enjoy and relax.

“Karon, with the construction of this wellness park, people will flock here, people will go here not just because it is strategically located right outside the port, naa na sila’y mapondohan, makan-an, ug mapalitan og mga souvenirs," Oaminal said.

He added that devotees who are interested in going to Birhen sa Cotta shrine and historical pilgrims can directly visit the wellness park.

Gov. Henry S. Oaminal, together with Second District Congressman Sancho Fernando Oaminal and Mayor Henry Oaminal, led the inauguration and ribbon-cutting of the said facility.

The governor congratulated Mayor Oaminal for his strong leadership as well as the local government's preparations for its 75th City Charter Anniversary this July, where one of its major accomplishments is the wellness park.

Mayor Oaminal emphasized that this inauguration is the result of a shared vision, from the conceptualization of Rep. Sancho Fernando Oaminal down to its full completion under the mayor's term.

"This program also align man usab sa atong programa og atong mission Asenso Misamis Occidental nga ang usa ka key strategy nga ang Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon," the mayor said.

Rep. Oaminal said the Asenso Ozamiz Wellness Park is the product of unity. He said  they want the whole province of Misamis Occidental to have a place where they can bond and take a break.

"We want to provide them a venue kung asa nila madala ang ilahang tagsa-tagsa ka pamilya (where they can bring their respective families). You don't need to be afraid or scared in terms of security because I’m sure right now we are already confident sa kakugi ug ka maayo ug sa katarong sa atong kapulisan (in the hard work and goodness of our police)," said the representative.

Rep. Oaminal also urged the people of Ozamiz to be responsible and do their part in keeping the area clean and beautiful since everyone can freely enjoy the park.

Getting a feel of the wellness park, Dame Beth Cañete of Barangay Labinay, Ozamiz City, said they are really looking for  places to relax and enjoy in the city so they won't need to spend  a lot of time and money traveling to other areas.

"Nindot kaayo ang wellness park. Grabe, karon pa jud ni nahitabo. Nindot kaayo siya suroyan. Lahi ra gyud kaayo sauna kay wala gyud kasuroyan, karon okay na gyud."
